Casa Desierto sits in Western Hills Estates, a pocket of Yucca Valley where the rock formations and open valleys feel closer to the national park than to any town. The estate covers six and a half secluded acres of giant boulders, and the house was designed to keep you facing them: two large picture windows hold the backyard rocks like paintings, and the kitchen, dining, and living rooms all open to the pool deck and courtyard.
The saltwater pool and hot tub are set directly into the boulder landscape, with a fire pit and outdoor dining beside them. Inside, the kitchen runs on a Wolf range and Sub-Zero refrigerator and is stocked for people who actually cook. Water throughout the house passes through a Life Source filtration system.
The four bedrooms are soundproofed and set at the back of the house, away from the pool and living areas. Beds are dressed in Belgian linen with down pillows on Casper mattresses. Showers are high pressure, stocked with Le Labo.
