Why we build quiet houses in loud landscapes.

01 — Wabi-sabi

Wabi-sabi is often translated as the beauty of imperfection. We read it more plainly: honesty about materials, patience with time, and a preference for what is quiet over what is new.

The houses follow. Plaster that shows its trowel marks. Reclaimed oak that keeps its scars. Rooms organized around light instead of things, because in the high desert the light is the luxury.

We keep the houses by hand. Things age, and we let them, and we repair them slowly with the same materials they were built from. Nothing loud, nothing extra, nothing that asks for attention.

02 — A note from the founder

We bought this land for the boulders and stayed for the mornings. The houses are our answer to a simple question: what would it take to really rest?

Everything here is something we wanted in our own home, because it is our own home. We hope you leave slower than you came.
